The UCEED 2025 syllabus, as outlined by IIT Bombay, is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. Here’s a detailed overview:
🧠 Part A: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
This section assesses candidates through Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). The topics include:
Visualization and Spatial Reasoning: Ability to visualize and transform 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
Practical and Scientific Knowledge: Know-how of scientific principles and everyday objects.
Observation and Design Sensitivity: The capacity to detect concealed properties in daily life and think critically about them. Attention to detail, classification, analysis, inference, and prediction.
Environment and Society: General awareness of environmental, social, and cultural connections with design.
Analytical and Logical Reasoning: Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information.
Language: Proficiency in reading and comprehending Standard English.
Creativity: Grasp of verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, signs, and symbols.
✏️ Part B: Drawing and Design Aptitude
This section evaluates candidates’ drawing skills and design aptitude through two questions:
Drawing: Ability to draw products, people, or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
Design Aptitude: Capability to practically and appropriately respond to problems/situations with ingenuity and empathy.
Criteria for selection for UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design), based on the latest structure:
Eligibility:
Age Limit: Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2000 (for the 2025 exam).
Attempts: A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times and in consecutive years only.
Educational Qualification: The candidate should have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2024 or appearing in 2025 in any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities).
Qualifying UCEED:
You must appear for the UCEED exam and secure a rank (only securing marks is not enough; you must qualify as per cut-off marks announced for different categories like Open, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC/ST/PwD).
Score and Rank List:
A Common Rank List (CRL) and category-wise rank lists are prepared.
Only candidates who score the minimum prescribed marks in each section and overall are included in the rank list.
Application for B.Des. Programs:
Qualifying in UCEED does NOT automatically guarantee admission.
After the result, you must separately apply for B.Des admission through the UCEED admission portal.
Participating institutes (like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur) have their separate admission processes based on the UCEED Rank.
Seat Allotment:
Admission is based on UCEED Rank, seat availability, choice preference, and reservation norms.
There can be multiple rounds of seat allotment.
List of IITs that accept UCEED scores for admission to their B.Des (Bachelor of Design) programs:
🎓 IITs Accepting UCEED Score:
IIT Bombay
Program: B.Des

🔵 Important:
Other private universities or institutes (like UPES, MIT ID, Srishti Manipal, etc.) may accept UCEED scores separately, but for IIT admissions, the above four IITs + IIITDM Jabalpur are officially listed under the UCEED Admission Portal.
